Cirago has recently released a couple of new USB Micro Bluetooth 3.0 adapters in the form of the BTA3310 and BTA 6310. The Cirago BTA3310 supports Bluetooth 3.0 EDR class 2 with operating range up to 33 feet or about 10 meters, while the Cirago BTA6310 provides Bluetooth 3.0 EDR class 1 with operating range up to 330 feet or about 100 meters. Both adapters also feature a micro design – RoHS compliant, an Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) compliant for both 2Mbps and 3Mbps modulation modes, a full speed Bluetooth operation with full Piconet and Scatternet support as well as a support for 802.11 co-existence. StarTech has recently rolled out three new Mini DisplayPort adapters that are compatible with both Windows and Mac platforms. The Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter is designed to connect a VGA monitor or HDTV and offers support for resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 and a maximum HDTV resolution of 1080p. Meanwhile, the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI supports the same resolutions as the previous adapter. The last addition to the line is the Mini DisplayPort to DVI cable, which will offer similar output for standard digital displays. These adapters are priced at between $25 to $30, depending on the model.
Netgear is back with a couple of next-generation HomePlug AV-certified powerline kits in the form of the compact Powerline AV 500 Adapter Kit (XAVB5001) and the Powerline AV+ 500 Adapter Kit (XAVB5501) which comes with a filtered “pass-through” power socket. These adapters are designed to be compatible with the draft international IEEE P1901 powerline standard and provides greater speeds for bandwidth-hungry applications such as lag-free Internet gaming, Voice over IP (VoIP), large file transfers to networked devices, and simultaneous 1080p HD video streaming to multiple TVs throughout the home.
