Huntington Beach-based peripheral maker Zowie Gear and professional Counter-Strike player Emil “HeatoN” Christensen have joined together to release the EC1 and EC2 high-end optical gaming mice. Available in black and white, the EC-series mouse features a maximum DPI setting of 2000 (on-the-fly adjustments are possible), a 1,000Hz USB report rate, a 1.5mm lift-off distance to enable even greater precision, a 2-meter cable, and five buttons, including a durable scroll wheel with a claimed lifetime of over 5 years. Both the EC1 and EC2 are set to debut in mid-August 2010 for €59.90 ($77) a pop.

Samsung on Tuesday announced it will soon release the HW-C450 sound bar for simple home theater setups. The 2.1-channel system comes in black, while the HW-C451 will be available in silver. Apart from the color, the systems have an identical 280W power rating and sport Samsung’s Touch of Color design. Their speakers are grill-less, and the subwoofer is wireless.

Connecting to a source is done through a single optical audio cable. To allow users to play their personal music libraries, Samsung will also soon launch its HT-WDC10 wireless iPod/iPhone dock.

The HW-C450 is already available for purchase at Amazon for $350, while both the HW-C451 and HT-WDC10 are due for a release in May. The iPod dock will cost $150.
